NTFS-3G is an open-source, cross-platform implementation of Microsoft Windows NTFS with read and write support. Because NTFS-3G mainly uses the file system interface called FUSE, it can run unmodified on many different operating systems. It runs on Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenSolaris, BeOS, QNX, WinCE, Nucleus, VxWorks, Haiku MorphOS, Minix, macOS, and OpenBSD. It is licensed under the GNU GPL or a proprietary license. It is a partial fork of ntfsprogs and is under active maintenance and development.

NTFS-3G was introduced in July 2006 by Szabolcs Szakacsits (ˈsɒboltʃ ˈsɒkɒtʃitʃ), one of the senior Linux NTFS developers. The first stable release, version 1.0, came out on February 21, 2007. Later, the NTFS-3G developers founded a company called Tuxera Inc. to develop the code. NTFS-3G is now the free "community edition", while Tuxera NTFS is the proprietary version.
