Multimodal learning, in the context of machine learning, is a type of deep learning that combines data of various modalities, such as text, audio, or images, to build a more robust model of the real-world phenomenon behind a problem. In contrast, singular modal learning analyzes text (typically represented as feature vectors) or imaging data (consisting of pixel intensities and annotation tags) independently. Multimodal machine learning uses specialized modeling strategies and algorithms to combine fundamentally different statistical analyses, producing models closer to representing the real world.
