A mainboard or motherboard is a kind of component in expandable electronic devices such as computers. It is the printed circuit board (PCB) that holds the main components needed for the system to operate, such as the CPU and RAM, and provides interfaces for connecting peripheral devices. In Apple's Macintosh, iPhone, and so on, it is also called a logic board (Logicboard).
PC motherboards often have a built-in sound card and network card, and depending on the purpose, even the CPU, RAM, and storage may be built into the motherboard.
