MDAC is Microsoft's collection of database drivers that connects client personal computers (PCs) to server databases. It is included in most Microsoft products (Windows, Office, Visual Studio, Internet Explorer, and all server product lines), and newer versions are always installed automatically on a regular basis. It provides components such as ADO, OLE DB, and ODBC, which let client/server applications that exchange data over the web or a local area network (LAN) easily integrate and share information from a variety of data sources, whether relational (SQL) or non-relational.
