Mercure is an open protocol based on SSE, used as an alternative to WebSockets-based solutions. Mercure works around a standalone hub that maintains persistent SSE connections with clients, and provides a simple HTTP API that server apps and clients can use. Mercure adds features such as a JWT-based authentication mechanism, subscribing to multiple topics over a single connection, event history, and automatic state reconciliation when network problems occur.
