• MapLibre Tile (MLT) is a new next-generation vector tile format replacing the existing Mapbox Vector Tile (MVT), designed to improve the efficiency of processing large-scale geospatial data
• Offers up to 6x better compression and fast SIMD-based decoding, improving storage space, latency, and cache efficiency
• Extensible, with future goals of supporting 3D coordinates (elevation), GPU-based processing, complex data types, linear referencing, and m-values
• Usable right now in MapLibre GL JS and MapLibre Native, with demo tiles, a conversion server, and generation support through Planetiler
• A format developed through collaboration among the open-source community, companies, and academia, completed with sponsorship from Microsoft and AWS
