A management information system (Management Information Systems, MIS for short) is a management support system that, viewing the company as a system, helps other subsystems work efficiently toward the goal of the management system: generating profit. An MIS is an integrated computer information system that stores data and produces information, so that the knowledge needed within the company is created, accumulated, and used. Knowledge itself is invisible, but the MIS is responsible for providing the data and information that form its source, along with some analysis functions.
