Machine translation (機械飜譯, MT) is the use of computers to translate a natural language used by humans into another language. It is also called 'automatic translation'.
It has the advantage of producing consistent and uniform translations, but machine translation currently cannot guarantee natural translations, and sentences often come out in an unnatural tone. However, technical progress continues, and it is growing ever faster thanks to advances in statistics, artificial intelligence, and computer processing power.
Because the concept of machine translation itself predates computers, machine translation is not synonymous with translation software, but today machine translation is mostly implemented as translation software. For example, there is English-Korean translation software that takes an English sentence as input and outputs a Korean sentence translating it.
