MMX (MultiMedia eXtension) is a SIMD instruction set designed by Intel; it began shipping in Pentium-process microprocessors in 1997, labeled "Pentium with MMX Technology". It was developed from a similar unit first introduced in the Intel i860. It has been supported in later IA-32 processors by Intel and other vendors.
