  • On March 3, NASA and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) succeeded for the first time in acquiring and tracking Earth-based navigation signals on the lunar surface through the Lunar GNSS Receiver Experiment (LuGRE)
  • This means GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals can be received and tracked on the Moon as well, and the achievement opens the possibility of supporting autonomous position, velocity, and time determination for NASA's Artemis missions and future Moon and Mars exploration
  • This becomes an important cornerstone for building precision navigation systems for future lunar and deep-space exploration
