In electronics, a logic gate is a physical device implementing Boolean algebra: an electronic circuit that performs a logical operation on one or more logical inputs and produces a single logical output. It performs the basic Boolean operations AND, OR, and NOT, and combinations of these basic operations perform complex logic functions.

Depending on context, the term "ideal logic gate" is interpreted as one that has, for instance, no rise time and unlimited fan-out, or as a non-ideal physical device.
