(For the training method used in deep learning and Stable Diffusion, see LoRA (with a capital 'A'))

LoRa is a physical proprietary radio communication technique. It is based on spread spectrum modulation techniques derived from chirp spread spectrum technology. It was developed by Cycleo, a company in Grenoble, France, which was later acquired by Semtech.

About

A low-power communication modulation technique developed by Semtech

A communication standard made for IoT communication. What sets it apart from other standards is its very long range and low power: under good conditions it can communicate up to about 10 miles (16km), and because each node is assigned a node number for communication, unlike competing standards it does not need a SIM card or the like.

Its data rate is slower than other LTE-based standards but faster than SigFox or Zigbee. Since it is a standard based on unlicensed bands, it uses frequencies within the ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical; hereafter ISM) band

In Korea, SK Telecom offers it as its main IoT solution over the 900Mhz band, but in practice more devices run on independent networks rather than the SK network
