LMMS is a free cross-platform alternative to commercial programs like FL Studio®, which allow you to produce music with your computer. This includes the creation of melodies and beats, the synthesis and mixing of sounds, and arranging of samples. You can have fun with your MIDI-keyboard and much more; all in a user-friendly and modern interface.

VeSTige

On Linux, the default setting seems to be 32-bit wine. When downloading DLLs, get the 32-bit ones. It may be possible to change an option to switch to 64-bit... but I haven't verified it.

Plugins

DSK The Grand
https://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-the-grand/
A VST for grand piano music. It has the following options.
  • Attack - The speed at which a key is pressed. Slow gives an indirect, weak, and quiet sound; pressing fast gives a direct, strong, and loud sound.
  • Attack Time - The time from when the note starts until it reaches its peak.
  • Decay Time - The time over which the sound decays after the peak until it reaches the sustain level.
  • Sustain Level - The volume of the sound sustained while the key is held down.
  • Release Time - The time from when the finger is lifted off the key until the note keeps decaying and disappears completely.

Troubleshooting

When the GUI is not displayed in VeSTige

In the Edit > Settings menu, if the "PLUGIN EMBEDDING" item is set to "Embed using XEmbed protocol", change it to "Embed using Qt API" and restart.
