Level Editors

A level editor is software for designing the levels, maps, or campaigns of a computer or video game, and is also called a world editor, map editor, campaign editor, or scenario editor.
In game development, a level editor lets the designers on the development team build levels, but it is also provided to end users as a tool that lets fans create levels for the game. A person doing the former is called a level designer, one of the roles in game development, while the latter is usually called a mapper.
Mappers sometimes join others in making mod games, and the act of editing levels can itself be an act of modding. Level editors used in development are mostly not very different from those delivered to end users, though they may be less convenient to use.
