LIVE555 Streaming Media is a set of open source (LGPL) C++ libraries for multimedia streaming. The libraries support open standards such as RTP/RTCP and RTSP for streaming, and can also manage video RTP payload formats such as H.264, MPEG, VP8, and DV, and audio RTP payload formats such as MPEG, AAC, AMR, AC-3 and Vorbis.

The software distribution also includes a complete RTSP server application, and a RTSP proxy server.

How to install

Ubuntu:

$ sudo apt-get install liblivemedia-dev

Mac OSX Homebrew:

$ brew install openrtsp

Source code:

$ apt-get install build-essential gcc curl
$ curl -O http://www.live555.com/liveMedia/public/live555-latest.tar.gz
$ tar -xzf live555-latest.tar.gz
$ cd live
$ ./genMakefiles linux-64bit
$ make
$ make install

Link order

The GCC link order is as follows.

1. liveMedia
2. groupsock
3. UsageEnvironment
4. BasicUsageEnvironment

How to test

Client test

Run the demo server.

$ docker run --rm -p 8554:8554 ullaakut/rtspatt

Capture data with the client.

$ openRTSP -F output-file-name.264 -t {RTSP_URL}

Server test

Rename the file captured in #Client test above to test.264 and run the test program.

$ testOnDemandRTSPServer

Copy the RTSP URL for h264 and run it on the client.

$ ffplay {RTSP_H264_URL}
