Kali Linux is the successor to BackTrack, an open-source Linux distribution for testing information security. Like BackTrack, it contains numerous hacking-related tools and manuals. Interestingly, whereas BackTrack was based on Ubuntu, Kali Linux is built on Debian. Kali Linux can be downloaded for free from the official Kali Linux website as an ISO image file or via torrent, etc.
