On a computer display, an icon (North Korean standard term: geurimgiho, "picture symbol") is a small pictogram. Icons can handle all of the computer's ordinary letters and numbers. Modern computers can now manage bitmap graphics on display terminals, so icons have come to be widely used to help users.
