A hypothesis is a theory that makes a prediction about the cause or lawfulness of a thing or phenomenon that is difficult to prove or verify under real-world conditions.
In the Machine learning
Take the relationship between room size and room price as an example. If a room costs 200,000 won at 10 pyeong, 300,000 won at 20 pyeong, and 400,000 won at 30 pyeong, what would the price be at 40 pyeong? Most likely 500,000 won. Inferring linearly like this is called Linear regression. And here, the relationship (function) between the predicted data and the result values is called the Hypothesis.
When reading it aloud, it is not translated as gyecheuk (measurement) but read as the English word, haipasseosiseu (haɪ|pɑ:θəsɪs).
