The humanities are academic disciplines that study the human condition. Unlike the natural sciences and social sciences, which mainly use empirical approaches, they make broad use of analytical, critical, and speculative methods. Fields of the humanities include philosophy, literature, history, archaeology, linguistics, religious studies, women's studies, aesthetics, art, music, and theology, and they are sometimes summed up broadly as mun/sa/cheol (literature, history, philosophy).
