A heuristic (發見法) is a method of solving problems, learning, or discovering things based on experience. In scientific fields such as computer science, it is a way of finding a realistically satisfactory solution instead of the optimal one, in order to finish within a limited time. As an adjective phrase, it is also called a heuristic method.
