A plain-text spaced repetition system
About
- Hashcards is a local-first spaced repetition app, similar to Anki or Mochi, but it uses Markdown files instead of a database
- Each flashcard is written in plain text, supports question (Q), answer (A), and cloze deletion (C) formats, and manages review schedules with the FSRS algorithm
- Card data is identified by a hash of its text, review history is stored in SQLite, and it can be version-controlled and shared through a Git repository
- Designed to minimize input friction and give full ownership, to solve Anki's complex interface and Mochi's inefficient algorithm
- Combining Markdown, Git integration, and the FSRS scheduler, it offers a new approach that lets developers and learners manage their study transparently and automatically
