Apache Hadoop (High-Availability Distributed Object-Oriented Platform) is a freeware Java software framework that supports distributed applications running on large computer clusters that can process massive amounts of data. It was originally developed to support distributed processing for Nutch, and is a subproject of Apache Lucene. It implements the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), which can replace the Google File System, a distributed processing system, and MapReduce.
