Loop vs Graph

  • Graph Engineering is less an entirely new concept than orchestration that connects multiple Agent Loops into a single workflow
  • An approach that explicitly configures parallel execution/verification/task handoff/shared state/stop conditions
  • Loop and Graph are not competing concepts
  • A Loop is a unit that repeatedly performs and verifies a single goal; a Graph is a higher-level structure connecting multiple Loops and task steps
  • The Graph itself is a structure long used in Workflow Engines/DAG Schedulers/State Machines
  • What has changed is that each node, instead of executing fixed rules, has become a probabilistic LLM Agent that interprets instructions and makes its own judgments
  • Because of this, what matters is not the shape of the Graph but orchestration design that makes state passing/parallel execution/veto authority/failure recovery/cost and iteration limits explicit
  • Having multiple Agents verify each other does not automatically raise reliability
  • Independent evidence from outside the Agent system is needed, such as real tests/completed transactions/user behavior/expert judgment
