Gnuplot (gnuplot) is a command-line application that plots 2D or 3D functions and data as graphs. It is freeware first developed in 1986. Versions are now available that run on various operating systems, including Linux, Unix, Windows, and Mac OS.

Because of its excellent performance it is widely used in academia and elsewhere, and there are many web pages explaining how to use it. It is also used as a front engine for GNU Octave.
