Gmail is Google's mailbox service provider. It is the largest email service in the world, with 1.8 billion users. It can be accessed through a web browser (webmail), a mobile app, or third-party email clients via the POP and IMAP protocols. Users can also link non-Gmail email accounts to their Gmail inbox. The service launched in 2004 as a beta called Google Mail and came out of beta in 2009.
