A global navigation satellite system (GNSS), also simply called a satellite navigation system or global satellite positioning system, is a system that makes it possible to determine position using artificial satellites. It is a system that helps a receiver on Earth receive information such as the receiver's position (longitude and latitude) and maps of the surrounding area via satellites, and infer things like an easy route to a destination. A receiver picks up radio signals transmitted from satellites, computes its distance from each satellite, and determines its own position.
