Git blame for file trees... Who wrote this code?!
About
- git-who is a CLI tool for finding who is responsible for entire components or subsystems of a codebase
- Unlike git blame, git-who works at the file tree level to identify code authors
Commands
Provides three subcommands, each offering a different view of authorship in a Git repository
table
- The default; prints a table summarizing the contributions of every author who has committed to the repository
- You can specify a path to filter only commits for files under that path.
- You can specify a branch name, tag name, or "commit-ish" to filter only commits reachable from a given commit
- The table can be sorted by various metrics using the -m, -c, -l, -f flags
tree
- Prints a file tree where each node shows the author who contributed most to that path
- Use the -a flag to annotate all files
- Supports the -l, -f, -m, -c flags
hist
- Prints a histogram/timeline of commit activity, showing the contribution history of the repository
- Supports the -l and -f flags.
