If AI writes the code, should the session also be part of the commit?
About
- git-memento is an extension tool that automatically records AI-generated code sessions in Git commits, storing the AI conversation history for each commit as git notes
- When you specify an AI session ID at commit time, the summary is stored in refs/notes/commits and the full conversation in refs/notes/memento-full-audit separately, providing both traceability and privacy
- Supports various AI providers such as Codex and Claude, and custom skills can be applied when generating summaries to control the quality of commit notes
- Integrates with GitHub Actions, providing automatic commit note comments, CI gate checks, and automatic note carry-over on merge (merge-carry)
- Supports Windows/Mac/Linux. A tool that improves the transparency of AI code generation and makes AI contributions auditable in collaborative environments
