GigE Vision is an interface standard introduced in 2006 for high-performance industrial cameras.

About

GigE Vision was established by the AIA (Automated Imaging Association). The standard defines the behavior of cameras and software over Ethernet, as well as the interaction between cameras and S/W.

Under this standard, cameras and S/W that comply with GigE Vision can interoperate regardless of manufacturer.

GigE Vision defines a range of functions, from basic communication rules such as ‘Discovery’, in which the S/W searches for cameras and obtains basic camera information, to ‘Event Control’, ‘Resend’, ‘Heartbeat Timeout’, ‘Multi-casting’ and others for stability and scalability.
