A grammar of graphics for SQL
About
- A visualization tool based on SQL syntax that combines data querying and chart construction into a single flow through clauses such as VISUALIZE, DRAW, PLACE, SCALE, and LABEL
- Maps columns to visual properties and, by combining layers, can build scatter plots, bar charts, histograms, box plots, and even annotation elements within the same structure
- Passes SQL query results directly as visualization input, and some layers fetch only aggregates by running a single SQL query, which is advantageous for large-scale data processing
- Designed as a small, focused executable usable without an R or Python runtime, making it well suited for integration with code-based reporting tools and AI analysis assistants
- The current version is an alpha-release, with planned extensions such as a high-performance writer, themes, interactivity, a language server, a formatter, and spatial data support
