gedit is a free software text editor developed for the GNOME desktop environment. It is also available on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is UTF-8 compatible and was developed with a focus on editing structured text documents such as program code and markup languages. Following the philosophy of the GNOME project, it features a clean and simple GNOME GUI.

Text not visible because of the cursor line highlight in dark mode

In dark mode, the text on the line where the cursor currently is is hard to see.

Choose one of the following two methods.

Method 01. Turn off the current line highlight option

Go to Preferences > View Tab > Highlight current line and turn the option off.

Method 02. Change the color scheme

Go to Preferences > Font & Colors Tab and select a suitable color scheme.

For reference, I chose Oblivion.
