Gain (electronics)

lastmod 2026-02-22created 2026-02-222 edits

Gain (利得, gain) in electronics is the ratio by which an electric circuit such as an amplifier amplifies a signal or output. In most cases it is expressed as the logarithm of the ratio of the circuit's output signal to its input signal.

Gain applies not only to the amplification of electrical signals but also to the amplification of voltage, current, power, and so on. Gain can also take different values depending on how a sensor measures. For this reason, when gain is stated, the measurement conditions are usually specified along with it.
