lastmod 2026-03-03created 2014-09-2868 edits

GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) is both a set of desktop programs and the name of the project that develops it. It is a graphical user interface running at the top layer of a computer operating system, made entirely of open-source free software, and the project is international in scale. It is part of the GNU Project and can be used on various Unix-like operating systems. Notable examples are GNOME as the default desktop environment of Ubuntu, Fedora, and others, and Solaris's Java Desktop System.
