GNOME extensions

Installing extensions manually

  1. Create the folder ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions in your home directory:
  2. Extract the zip file downloaded from https://extensions.gnome.org/
  3. Rename the folder to match the "uuid" ID in the metadata.json file.
  4. Restart GNOME Shell by command Or, reboot your system.

gnome-shell-extensions

sudo apt install gnome-shell-extensions
gnome-extensions enable [email protected]

install command ??

gnome-extensions install ???

GNOME Shell browser

Ubuntu Linux

On Ubuntu 23.04 or later:

$ sudo apt-get install gnome-browser-connector

Earlier versions:

$ sudo apt-get install chrome-gnome-shell

Manager

  • GNOME Tweaks
  • Extension Manager - extension manager
    • https://github.com/mjakeman/extension-manager
    • I use it as an alternative because the browser extension for the GNOME Shell extensions site doesn't work well.
    • Search performance isn't great, but it's so-so... usable.
    • When searching, searching with "Recent" finds things relatively well.
    • apt install gnome-shell-extension-manager
