Full virtualization

Full virtualization is a virtualization technique used to provide a certain kind of virtual machine environment, and refers to completely simulating the underlying hardware. It is one branch of virtualization technology; another is Paravirtualization.
Paravirtualization requires the guest software to be suitably modified, which can be described as porting it. Full virtualization, on the other hand, is a technique that fully virtualizes the CPU or the entire system so that all software, including operating systems and hypervisors, can run inside a virtual machine 'without modification'. Technologies such as VMWare Workstation are typical examples, and hardware-assisted approaches have recently been introduced.
