Finance is the circulation of money, that is, activity related to the supply and demand of funds. In economic life, banks, securities firms, or insurers raise funds from market participants (e.g., depositors, securities investors, or the insured) and lend them to other market participants. People engaged in this service industry are called 'financiers', and the academic field related to finance is called 'financial studies'. In general, all capital flows in which market participants such as governments, individuals, and organizations raise funds and then allocate and use them for production are collectively called 'finance'. Thus, not only financiers but also corporate activities related to government finances and personal financial management can be considered part of finance.
