A film (Korean yeonghwa, 映畵) is a visual work made by continuously shooting scenes that record moments, then editing the resulting moving images together with the recorded sound so that they convey some content. It is also called a motion picture (hwaldong sajin, 活動寫眞).
Traditionally, films were shot on optical film, went through editing and production, and were then screened in movie theaters through a projector so that many people could watch them. Recently, with the development of television and multimedia computers, many films use digital methods from production to viewing. Independent films, also called indie films, are developing as well. Moreover, 'independent film' is so called because, unlike commercial films aimed at profit, the creator's intent comes first and the film is 'independent' of capital and distribution networks.
