A file manager or file explorer is a computer program that provides a user interface for working with file systems. The most common operations performed on files and groups of files are creating, opening, editing, viewing, printing, playing, renaming, moving, copying, deleting, searching, and modifying characteristics/attributes/permissions. Files are usually shown in a hierarchy. Some file managers include features inspired by web browsers, including back and forward navigation buttons.
