Extensible Application Markup Language, i.e. XAML (pronounced [zæ:mɛl])), is a declarative XML-based language created by Microsoft for initializing structured values and objects. It is available under Microsoft's Open Specification Promise. XAML originally stood for "eXtension Avalon Markup Language", taken from Avalon, which was also the code name of Windows Presentation Foundation.
