Error detection and correction

Error detection and correction, or error control, is a technique in information theory and coding theory, as applied in computer science and telecommunications, for reliably delivering digital data over unreliable communication channels.
The general definitions are as follows.
- Error detection is detecting errors caused by noise or other impairments during transmission from the sender to the receiver.
- Error correction is detecting errors and reconstructing the original data.
