Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a method of describing the structure and functions of an organization's processes, information systems, and departments in a comprehensive and precise way, and through this, giving the organization direction to act in line with its strategic goals. It is closely related to information technology (IT), but is also closely related to business optimization, and is called business structure, performance management, organizational structure architecture, and so on.
EA has become a method commonly used in planning by the U.S. federal government. The FEA (Federal Enterprise Architecture) reference model serves as the basis for establishing the architecture of each part of the U.S. federal government. The primary goal of EA is to recognize the business strategy and carry out IT investments in accordance with it. EA therefore ensures traceability to the technologies that support the business strategy.
BP, Intel, Volkswagen Group, and others have also applied EA to their companies to improve business efficiency and productivity.
In South Korea it is mainly called ITA or ITA/EA.
