Creating a new instance
| Index | Screenshot | Description |
| Go to the AWS Management Console.
| Select the ECS service in the console.
| Select a region. For Korea, there is Seoul.
| If you have a key pair, you can just create the instance right away. If not, create a key pair first. (Start from item 13)
| Select the OS to use.
| Select the desired OS (Ubuntu here) and architecture (64-bit here), then click the "Select" button on the right.
| Select the instance type (family). For instance types, see the EC2:InstanceType1 page.
| Select the detailed options. However, if "Credit specification" is set to Unlimited, credits are issued without limit, so you may get hit with a huge bill. It is best to turn this option off.
| Select storage and capacity
| Specify network port rules.
| Do a final check of your selections.
| Select the key pair to use for SSH connections. If you don't have one, you must create a new one. If you have already created one on your local PC, you can use that key pair. (If you want to register a new one, you must register it before creating the instance) -> Once registration is complete, go to step 16.
| To register a key pair you already have, select the Import menu from the Actions button at the top.
| Add the public file (
| If registration succeeds, the fingerprint is displayed.
| Again, after finishing the instance settings, select the key pair.
| When it is done, the following screen appears. Congratulations. Your postpaid card charges are now all booked.
| You can check the instance list.
| To see how to connect, click the Connect button at the top.
| You can check the default user name.
| Click the "SSH Client" tab at the top to display how to connect via ssh.
For reference, if you start from an Ubuntu image, the default user is ubuntu. As for the password, the ssh login account automatically has sudo privileges, so you can change it with sudo passwd.
