Doom (Doom or DOOM) is a first-person shooter video game series developed by id Software.
Doom is regarded as one of the pioneering single-player shooter games, and it introduced to IBM-compatible computers features such as 3D graphics, a 3D spatial sense, networked multiplayer gameplay, and support for player-made mods in the Doom WAD format (WAD stands for "Where's All the Data?", the file format in which data is stored in Doom and all Doom engine-based games). Since Doom was released in 1993, the series has spawned numerous follow-ups (sequels), expansion packs, and films.
