A disk array controller is a device that manages physical disk drives and presents them as logical units (LUNs). Because it performs hardware RAID, it is also called a RAID controller or RAID card. It also provides additional disk cache.
A disk array controller is sometimes referred to as a disk controller. However, the two devices provide different functions and should not be confused.
