The term digital image (Digital Image), or simply "image", refers to real-world objects captured with a digital camera, or photographs and drawings brought into digital form with a scanner.
As in a digital camera, a digital image requires a dedicated digital image processing processor that converts raw data from the image sensor into a color-corrected image in a standard image file format. For this reason, an image (or image file) on a computer holds pixel-level information in the form of raster graphics.
Since such images can generally be distinguished from vector graphics, there is a tendency for convenience to call digital images "images" and vector drawing graphics "graphics".
However, because both digital images and vector graphics are processed as digital information on a computer, the term "graphics" is sometimes used to refer to both.
