Deadlock

A deadlock (膠着狀態) is a state in which two or more tasks are each waiting only for the other's task to finish, so that as a result nothing is completed. For example, suppose there is one ladder and two people, one at the top and one at the bottom. If the person at the bottom tries to climb up and the person at the top tries to come down, both will wait endlessly for the other to get off the ladder, and as a result neither can come down or go up the ladder. Likewise, in computer science a deadlock is a problem that can commonly occur in multiprogramming environments. There is still no general method for solving this problem.
