CrossFireX (formerly CrossFire) is the brand name of ATI Technologies' multi-GPU solution, a technology competing with NVIDIA's Scalable Link Interface (SLI). The technology was created to improve graphics performance by using up to 4 graphics cards in a single computer. It has recently been announced only for consumer-level hardware, but a similar technology, AMD Multi-Rendering (AMR), is used in professional cards needed for flight simulators and the like. ATI also previously released a dual Rage 128 consumer card called the Fury MAXX.
