A computer virus (North Korean standard language: kompyuteo birusu) is a computer program that replicates itself to infect computers. The term is sometimes misused by confusing it with other kinds of malware that lack self-replication, such as adware and spyware. A virus can spread from one computer to another (in some form of executable code). For example, a user can spread a virus over the Internet or a network, or via removable media such as floppy disks, CDs, DVDs, and USB drives. A virus can increase its chances of spreading to other computers by infecting files on a network file system or on a file system accessed by other computers.
