Comma-separated values

Each item or sales entry is recorded separated by a comma. A CSV file is stored as a text file, so it can be viewed and edited in a word processor or editor. Because it is a general-purpose format handled by numerous applications, data files are often converted to CSV for transfer when exchanging address books or table data between a PDA (personal digital assistant) and a PC.
