A color scheme is the arrangement of two or more colors so that they go well together. There are many criteria for evaluating it, but since the concept of color harmony was established, research has been under way to uncover universal principles or laws, on the claim that such principles exist. Color schemes are applied across a wide range of areas, such as product design, environmental design, interiors, and advertisements/posters, and the impression varies with the color scheme. Each color carries its own inherent image or character; for example, red represents passion, ardor, anger, and so on. However, depending on the color scheme, each image can give a variety of impressions beyond the inherent image of that color, such as a mild or feminine feeling, or a heavy and dignified feeling.
